Finishing the box UFO was very satisfying and spurred me on to learn to use a long-arm so that I can quilt it when I feel sufficiently educated. This UFO has been hanging around for a number of years and I had to get over "precious-ness" and cut up finished blocks I'd made, but ultimately didn't like. That made all the difference in how this turned out.
My long-arm practice piece is a whole different animal and I seem to be approaching it like I would a doodle - a fairly restrained doodle. After watching a number of YouTube videos and looking at books, I started to trace designs in the hope that I can get more sweeping and controlled movements with this machine instead of little pathways. I have a long way to go, but I am really enjoying this new piece of the quilting pie.
